This is the 349th comic i’ve made of Charlie and the Ghost, and besides the random references to the fact that the ghost is dead scattered throughout the archives, the ghost could just as easily be an anthropomorphic cat. I don’t often write much of anything through these… But I want to propose a question today!
I can hardly wait until science fiction catches up with science reality, and I eagerly anticipate being part of the “definition of life” discussion when true, self-existing, non-biological artificially intelligent life-forms occur. Why? If a robot can make moral decisions of it’s own free will, can it live a life devoted to God? Did Jesus die for c3p0? Them be some interestin’ questions. It might seem like a silly question to ask, but If I know one thing for sure, it’s that God cares about how we as humanity treats others, probably, even if they are artificial others. If we build an intelligence equal or superior to ours, but treat it, or them, as slaves, what does that mean? In the bible, God sides with the oppressed. Man, I hope this all happens in my life time, it would be really exciting to see how the church responds. Anyways, as you can tell, this week of vacation is really making my brain squirley. tomorrow’s comic won’t make any sense at all.
