Go Go Weekly: April 25th!

I really like how the squirrel came out! In this week’s episode, my daughter made the music when the art that people submitted is shown, and honestly it’s probably my favourite music i’ve used on these videos! So great! I love seeing the art that people come up with, and if you (or your kids, or your classroom if you’re a teacher) come up with any art, email it to me at gogomachrocketsheep@gmail.com and I’ll put it in the next week’s video!

I’ve been working on compiling a couple comic collections, one focused on short stories and side projects I’ve made over the years (most of which have never been shown to anyone) and, while making that, I realized that I have made around 4oo individual “Gogomachrocketsheep” comic strips and it might be time for a collection!

Thanks for reading this week’s updates! I think my favourite one from this week is definitely the super hero one, because it occured to me rather suddenly while biking home from work that the whole “hero born from trauma” thing is ridiculous- probably the worst way to deal with trauma would be to wear a mask and inflict trauma on others. Anyways!

This last week was crazy-busy for me in work and life, and I’m feeling a bit worn out creatively. Add to that the fact that my class has started back up again- OH BOY! My comic production might scale back a bit so i can spend time making the videos and working on those two books I had mentioned. Anyways, thanks for reading! See yah next week!

Go Go Weekly: April 18, 2021

It’s the SECOND WEEK of Go Go Mach Rocket Sheep’s weekly post, where I take everything I put up on social media and gather it here for your reading pleasure. The idea is that I’ll carve a bit more time to do a proper blog post, as well as having the comics and whatever videos I ended up making in one place- that way, you can sign up with your email to follow this site, and no dang algorithm will determine what you will or won’t see! You’ll get ALL the comics! BOO YAH.

Odd- these comics did not upload to this page in the proper order. That’s okay though, it’s not like these need to be read “in order”. In fact, if I didn’t mention anything, I’m sure nobody would have noticed- but here we are. Now everyone will know.

For so long with webcomics, they said “update every day! update every day!” and now they say “If you miss an update here or there, nobody will notice… It’s just one of a million things people scroll by and don’t pay attention too. So make sure that whatever you put out there is really good, and work hard to be really good as regularly as you can.” I like that and I’ve been trying to break myself of the need to make a comic every day just cause “that’s what a webcomicer does!” Especially when life gets busy, and these days life is ALWAYS busy, its nice to know that I can just breathe and relax and put out some good stuff. I sorta psych myself out of comic making by getting anxious about update schedules. I’m feeling much better now as a cartoonist that I’ve finally broken myself of that urgent habit (a totally self-inflicted habit! It’s not like I had a newspaper to submit them too).

If you’re on instagram, follow me there to get the comics and videos in your insta feed! If you’re on facebook you could follow my page there too. It’d be great to meet yah in those spheres! Thanks so much for reading!

GGMRS Week review: april 11

I was reading up on how people are using the internet these days and was shocked- SHOCKED- to find out that people are sort of falling out of love with social media (there’s a bit of sarcasm in that sentence, just in case it doesn’t translate well in text). All of the various social medias tune their algorithms in a way that is useful for them to drive engagement, but isn’t super useful for content creators (and even social media USERS)… Long story short, the articles I was reading was emphasizing (and prophesying) the return of the reign of the website, the email list, and the RSS feed. Let me tell yah- I’m on board! So I think I’m going to try an experiment. I’m going to update my social media like I normally do- whenever I make something. But I’m going to update this website once a week with a blog post, this week’s “Let’s Draw” video, and any comic strips I made throughout the week. Comment below if you’re stoked on this idea ’cause I am! Thanks so much for reading! Enjoy the comics.
