He said that North American humour feels (to someone from elsewhere) like having someone constantly explain a joke to you. I can see that- we love a good punchline. It’s a strange thing to think that, while music can translate universally, humour doesn’t quite as easily. I’ve heard it said that you are truly fluent in a language when you can understand subtleties of humour in that language.
