Before we get to all the auto-bio comics I’ve made in the last little while, consider checking out my store! You can pick up a copy of greener grass, or you can consider buying me a coffee! (Coffee is code for, ‘website costs’). I’m slowly adding my older books into the store, but shipping is a bit tricky to figure out at the moment. Alright, where were we:

No two conventions are alike- especially when you consider the variety of people who attend, all for different reasons. The one convention I was recently at was a part of a town-wide fair style event, and many people came and browsed simply to get out of the crazy amounts of rain! But whatever the reason, when a person picks up a book and smirks, that’s okay by me.

It’s actually such a great purchase. Many of my iOS game purchases work with it, such as GTA, all the Final Fantasy’s, and plenty of the apple arcade games. Get one for yourself! (You’ll need to supply your own ps4 controller and iphone)

I opted for my usual heroic style, aka: Panel 3. If you missed it, here’s the story I ended up making.

Recently, I’ve had a few people ask me questions about my comic making. I’m literally HORRIBLE at answering questions about this, because it’s more of a compulsion and less of an “activity informed by a well articulated artist statement”. I guess the comic strips in this update are an attempt to articulate some of why I do what I do.

Lots of people just paint and don’t bother doing any prep, and I gotta say: they’re insane. You GOTTA prep that surface.

This is about as preachy as I get these days. Back when I was a preacher, I’d get more preachy, but these days, I just make grumpy comics about real internet conversations I’ve had featuring anonymous characters making straw man arguments. Somebody’s gotta tilt at all these windmills, you know?!

I mean, it’s a pretty great lake, and an even better friend! The lake:

Actually, on second thought, I’ll take THIS one:

I have a limited amount of time to make comics in a day… Sometimes I prefer to make gag comics that can get finished in that limited amount of time, and sometimes I prefer to spread that time over months and make something bigger and more substantial. I think I’m coming back around to wanting to make something bigger again!
Because of the sheer cost of getting colour books printed, I think that my upcoming SpaceChuck Liturgy book will be the last book I do in colour (until some big publisher signs me and I don’t have to worry about the cost of printing in colour anymore!) so I’ll probably keep doing black-and-white stories in the meantime, or maybe do something with screen-tones or like a light greyscale shading?
In any case, an upcoming convention where I will be at selling TWO of my new books is at SaskAssemble3! Click here for more details, and put it on your calendar: September 13th, 10AM – 3PM at the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon, SK!
